House Speaker Paul Ryan has announced that President George H. W. Bush will lie in state in the U.S. Capitol this week, giving Americans a final chance to pay their respects. The 41st president passed away peacefully in his home in Houston Friday night.

The late President George H.W. Bush will lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda beginning with an arrival ceremony on Monday at 5:00 p.m. ET. The public is invited to pay their respects from Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET until Wednesday, December 5 at 7:00 a.m. ET.— Paul Ryan (@SpeakerRyan) December 1, 2018

Ryan recognized the late president on Saturday, along with several other prominent lawmakers and presidents. Here were just a few of those messages.

George H.W. Bush was a man for all seasons: a war hero, statesman, and affectionate family man. In our sadness today, we express our deepest condolences to the Bush family. We give thanks to God for the life of this patriot. pic.twitter.com/jBMP5nfEsh— Paul Ryan (@SpeakerRyan) December 1, 2018

America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush. While our hearts are heavy today, they are also filled with gratitude. The New York Times reports that Bush Senior's final hours were peaceful ones

“I can’t even hardly talk about it without welling up,” said Bush's former secretary of state, James A. Baker III, who was at his side Friday. “It was as gentle a passing as I think you could ever expect anyone to have. And he was ready.”

Bush 41's last words to his eldest son, former President George W. Bush were, "I love you, too."

Bush never apologized for his father financing either the Nazis or Planned Parenthood with Margaret Sanger.

What a crazy RAT that old HW was, you see, all RINOs are WORSE THAN DEMOCRATS because they lie about what they really stand for.

Let’s just keep in mind that HW Bush’s father was financing the Nazi regime at the same time his son was supposedly getting shot down during WWII.

"Hate ‘em when alive and pretend to respect and admire ‘em when dead..."

And then get mad at fellow FReepers when we don't want to be pulled into this type of crazed hypocrisy.

The leftist media is only praising HW now as a way to try to stick It to Trump. That same media mocked HW during his entire presidency.

Who chose that horrible picture? I was no fan of HW but he was a physically fit man for more than 8 decades.

Fitting a funeral should be Ryno’s last act as Speaker.

I don’t miss Bush, don’t miss him and I don’t miss the GOP.

I simply don’t care, period and I’m too exhausted to mourn.

Probably the one who does the pages for townhall.com. Click on the imgage location. I was no fan of him either. As a matter of fact I remember that I held my nose when I voted for him.

Unfortunately we can not vote for the First Lady, because I did like First Lady Barbara and I was not the only one.

America was a different place back then. No one voted for Dukakis.

Today? He would have beaten Bush in a walk.

He died knowing his family name was mud.

He dies knowing that Trump had destroyed the political dynasty he spent 80 years working to have control the Republic.

I have no doubt he was a tormented and pained man in the end,

Bush 41 was the first Republican I ever voted for, breaking the chains of my upbringing. In his case, since he turned RINO, I regretted it, until I saw who came after him. The scales dropped from my eyes then.

The Bush dynasty is as extinct as the dodo.

Tell me why I should mourn the passing of the Bushes.

Well for one thing Dukakis was a demonrat. I have never voted for a demonrat and never will.

Between the Bushes and the Clintons, America hasn’t had much to cheer about for a generation.

Good riddance.

I cheered ecstatically when Pennsylvania when red in ‘16. If only a house had fallen on that woman, or she had melted when she accidentally touched water, my joy would have been complete.

Oh no, i think you have me wrong.

I believe Bush was an evil POS but he is now God’s to judge. I will leave final judgments to He who is far wiser and better placed than I.
