John Wayne said there were too many hyphenated Americans.
I’m an American with Italian ancestry.
I am not Italian.
I’ll say that sometimes when talking about my neighborhood.
But it should be understood, it is NOT an Italian neighborhood.
It’s a neighborhood of Americans mostly with Italian ancestors.
Hell my pop was born in Italy and he didn’t consider himself an Italian when he became an American citizen.
My Italian sucks because my parents didn’t believe in speaking anything but English in America.
So I mostly picked up the language when they argued :)
