New York has the Sullivan law, specifically put into place (driven by Tammany-Hall member Sullivan) to keep criminals from being shot while mugging people. Sullivan, a state senator ran the gangs at the time.
Well he was certainly their consigliere and legislative representative. After he died from being hit by a train while escaping from a sanatorium his lawyers went through a huge hoard of paper and even though three quarters had no value Big Tim’s estate was officially probated at over $1M back in the 1920âs. Crime certainly paid for this vile man.
