I can’t speak to how well Peters is known in Michigan. From what I can gather online, he seems a bit of a non-entity.
Peters succeeded the retiring Dem Sen. Carl Levin in 2014 by beating a weak Republican, Terri Lynn Land. She committed unforced errors by not disclosing all assets and being visibly unprepared to field questions after a policy conference.
John James gave Stabenow a tough fight, and I think will probably do much better against Peters, a much weaker opponent.
