“We simply have to do our share”.
Funny how there never is a specification of how much is “our share”. The request holds out the implication that there is a certain amount we will have to do and then, even if the problem is not solved, we won’t be asked for more.
The reasoning is very similar to the call for “the rich” to pay their “fair share” in taxes, where you never get a number defining who is rich and what is fair.

By my calculations, there are already more than 55 million illegals in the USA.
