“IMO the lock can wait another ten years.”

The virtue signal is appreciated, but your statement is just stupid.

The in-laws were Yoopers which is how I learned about pasties. I think these things come from Cornwall, England where the miners would heat them in their shovels for lunch.

Hey, they already waited thirty years? What’s forty?
The invasion is going on right now.

Broader comment is that Washington, DC just doesn’t have any clue how to prioritize spending.

Wow, close call.

There's a scene in "Never Cry Wolf" where a guy, crossing a frozen lake loaded down with a full knapsack, breaks through the ice and sinks about 20 feet. While he's struggling to undo the straps, the scene shifts above water, panning across the calm, silent wilderness. A nice counterpoint to the struggle below and a good example of uncaring Mother Nature.

Looking at this , it seems like this place sorely needed the upgrade.

Thank you President Trump.

I live in lower Michigan- our trip to Houghton and up to Copper Harbor in the fall was beautiful. We stayed in Houghton, hit the brewery and ate lobster Pizza. Amazing. We then took a tour of one of the many mines. Very interesting.

Get a chance go see the Shipwreck Museum in the UP. Been to the Soo locks many times.

Thanks for posting this. I went over there and read the entire article and several more. Excellent writing. Excellent platform for online magazine.

To anyone who thinks this project can wait, please spend a few minutes reading the facts in this article. The project is 30 years late. The rebirth of the steel industry in the US (a requirement of our ability to fight a war against our current supplier of steel) requires this Lock to be functioning daily.

Excellent platform for online magazine.

Being interested in maritime matters, I found this site a great source for keeping up to date.
