The BEST approach would have been to have remained in the south in Mexico and have contacted one of our embassies there. Crossing all of Mexico before even applying is presumptuous of them and right there send up flags for the sorts of folks involved.

There is only one consulate is the south-——the only embassy is in Mexico City.

The BEST approach would have been to have remained in the south in Mexico and have contacted one of our embassies there.The only consulate south of Mexico City is in Mérida in the Yucatan, well off their path north. Besides, it's Mérida, AKA "la axila de México."
