The problem for all Republicans that want to run from Trump is that there’s no upside. They have this fantasy in their head that the Left sees one group of Republicans over here, decent, smart, free of bias against anyone, just maybe a little old fashioned in their beliefs, and then this other group over there, deplorable. But that’s not at all true. The Left sees all Republicans the same way. So you get no benefit, yet you depress your base. And then you lose.
You could probably fit the remaining anti-Trump voting bloc from across the country in a college football stadium. Numbers-wise not exactly a group you can build a political base on. Rush sees it and has articulated not quite with my analogy but he has basically said it. These people the Kasichs, Sasses, Loves and others still think tat to behave this way is a winning hand?
