“Yet several nations from all over the world have outright withdrawn from the compact since initially ratifying it in July, or have signaled their intent to do so, as states gain confidence in opposing fashionable but dangerous deals that are not in their own interests.”
There is one word in the quote from the article above that defines modern liberalism. That word is “fashionable.” Something comes into “fashion” and no one can oppose it no matter how destructive it is. The homeless in San Francisco and Seattle and their many expensive “solutions,” universal health care for all, guaranteed minimum income, free education, free transportation...the list is endless.
However, while some fashions like global warming and tattoos seem immortal, others come and go. Notice that eliminating ICE disappeared just a few weeks before the 2018 midterms. That’s because about 80% of the electorate thought it was a bad idea. Hillary Clinton signaled another seismic shift recently when she opined that Europe (notice, Europe, not the US...as this is a policy trial balloon) needs to halt illegal migration.

Vy interesting comment.
Good post. Hillary I think sees this as an opportunity to play both sides. She can talk out of both sides of her mouth and nobody will call her on it.
Actually, what she said was: "I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame." What that means, as her further comments made clear, is that she does want immigrants but the way it was done in Europe, especially Germany, got the smelly electorate too riled up. So she's advocating for other, more underhanded and hidden ways of establishing left-wing globalist rule.
