Canada was pretty awful to a Detroit couple who got turned around because of a highway ramp closure. Took their handgun ( he was CPL) AND their car, charged them $2500 to get their car back a few days later.
Two years ago I was harassed at the Canadian border in Windsor for having a Michigan CPL *card* on me. The Canadian border guard wanted a list of all the firearms I owned. After some polite comments, I told him to basically stuff it. He still let us in.
I was pissed when I left.
I have since been told that Canadian authorities have been given the database of Michigan CPL holders, and can access that database when they check your ID at the border.
Does anybody know if this is true?
