The climate is going to change, whether we do anything or not. So enough with the “sky is falling” crap. (not directed at you OEB.)

I read the linked article. I’m glad it was short and to the point.

It seems like a lot of the “research” consists of papers that start with “scientists have posited that the global temperature will rise by x degrees over the next y years. This paper examines what such a change will do to the (whatever).”

The paper might represent “good” research but it’s all based on a debatable (at best) supposition.

[[occurrence of multiple climate hazards, strengthened by increasing greenhouse gas emissions.]]

There is absolutely zero evidence that just 0.04% of the atmosphere can create a thick enough blanket to trap heat globally- Zero! Think about that! 0.04% of the atmosphere- It is asinine to suggest that such a small amount blankets the globe trapping heat globally-

Take and pour 0.04% 100 degree water (about 5 five gallon pails) into an olympic sized pool of water that is say around 90 degrees

What happens? Yup- practically nothing- the 100 degree water almost immediately reaches stasis- The 100 degree hot water becomes 90 degrees- the 90 degree water does not become 100 degrees simply because there is nowhere near enough 100 degree water to heat the pool up one iota

Almost 100% of the heat rising from earth escapes- it is not trapped because there simply is not enough greenhouse gas to do so- what heat does get trapped gets radiated out in ALL directions, with only a very tiny amount being radiated back towards earth

Hmmmm, seems my calculations were a bit off

[[2) Man-made carbon dioxide emissions throughout human history constitute less than 0.00022 percent of the total naturally emitted from the mantle of the earth during geological history.]]

Seems man’s total contribution over the many decades has been just 0.00022%, not the 0.00137% I’ve been stating- seems I was way off- Soooo, can someone please explain how just 0.00022% of our atmosphere can capture enough heat and back radiate it in large enough quantities to cause global climate change?

[[4) After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions but global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.]]

[[10) A large body of scientific research suggests that the sun is responsible for the greater share of climate change during the past hundred years.]]

[[11) Politicians and activiists claim rising sea levels are a direct cause of global warming but sea levels rates have been increasing steadily since the last ice age 10,000 ago]]

‘overwhelming scientitifc consensus’? Think again!

[[19) A petition by scientists trying to tell the world that the political and media portrayal of global warming is false was put forward in the Heidelberg Appeal in 1992. Today, more than 4,000 signatories, including 72 Nobel Prize winners, from 106 countries have signed it.]]

[[23) It is myth that receding glaciers are proof of global warming as glaciers have been receding and growing cyclically for many centuries]]

[[26) The IPCC threat of climate change to the world’s species does not make sense as wild species are at least one million years old, which means they have all been through hundreds of climate cycles]]

[[30) The slight increase in temperature which has been observed since 1900 is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term natural climate cycles]]

They forgot the “we are going to melt all the methane on Europa”. Not sure how it works but pretty certain it is Trump’s fault.

I’ll bet that nowhere in their research do they support their subjective suppositions by showing figures that prove that only 0.00136% of the atmosphere is capable of trapping enough heat to warm the globe- let’s see the math- numbers don’t lie, only interpreters do-

(note, greenhouse gases combined = 0.04% of the atmosphere— man’s contribution of CO2 to the total amount of greenhouse gases is just 3.6%- so the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere due directly to man amounts to just 0.00136% of the atmosphere-— 3.6% of 0.04% = 0.00136%, but as you’ll note, in my previous post- our contribution is actually even less- I’m just going by figures presented by most online sites who claim man is responsible for climate change- The actual figures are much much worse for their claims- Our actual contribution of CO2 to atmosphere comprises only 0.00022% of the atmosphere-)

It seems there is good money to be had by creating hypotheticals of hypotheticals.

Those have, at most, an extremely tenuous connection to reality.

I know these scientists aren’t stupid, but they do have to pay the bills. What is truly stupid, is that people actually believe this crap. The climate never really changed in the past? Everything was totally normal? What a load of crap.
