You speak the truth. During the Civil War the Army was doing all sorts of things. Like occupying entire cities and then doing the day to day administration duties. Why they even did some unpopular things in those cities and free blacks and tell women that if they were not polite and civil to the troops, they would be treated as women of the night.

I suppose it’s a good thing Lincoln didn’t know the Amy couldn’t be deployed on US soil. hahaha

Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878.

Proposed & signed as a compromise to end Reconstruction.
