In 1857, abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass described how public opinion limits the ability of those in power to act with impunity:
"Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed
upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the
endurance of those whom they oppress
."

“The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the
endurance of those whom they oppress.”

And what constantly amazes me is how much suffering and punishment people will tolerate before they rise up and destroy the tyrants.

This war is not going to be fought with bullets. You could call it a battle for the mind, but that carries more than a suggestion of intellect. You could call it a battle for the soul, but a search for such a concept in modern society would be in vain. You could almost call it an emotional war, but that too is fleeting. The core lies not in reason, finance, or politics, but meaning.

A generation abandoned by tradition, bereft of reason, and emptied of purpose is capable of anything. They look to peers for not only social acceptance, but to validate their very existence. Their weapons are not guns, military, law, or money. It is complete social annihilation. Without court or jury, they destroy individual’s lives, families, and livelihoods.

A misstep, a word taken out of context, a private contribution, a religious ideal is enough to have you and your family literally driven from society.

Where lies the recourse in the court of public opinion?

What defense does one have against the press, social media, financial disassociation, de-funding, or de-platforming?

I have one real question for all those willing/wanting to “go hot”—who are you targeting?
