Well what exactly would be a perfect solution here?

1) Let govt pay for it and/or subsidize insurance

2) let the utility companies go bankrupt?

3) Let them pass costs on to consumers?

Any other choices?

When I read about the potential liability PG&E faces, I thought pretty much the same thing. Utilities going bankrupt? What happens to consumers then? Of course the consumers are going to pay. The only question is what are people whose decisions caused this great loss going to pay? Will they even lose their jobs?

The entire management of the utility should be canned with no golden parachutes...and every worker should take a 20% pay cut until whatever they have to pay out is made up by their lost salary. Simple.

The Utilities have major sway in California which could have been leveraged into improved forest management.

Instead the people will pay dearly and nothing will change.
