Organizers gathering signatures for a letter they say will show the strength of their opposition
Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton, one of the leaders of a small Democratic contingent opposing Nancy Pelosis bid for speaker, said Tuesday he is 100 percent confident the group has enough commitments to block the California Democrat from being elected speaker on the floor.
The anti-Pelosi group has been gathering signatures from new and returning members on a letter that calls for new Democratic leadership. It also notes that the signatories will not back Pelosi during the January floor vote for speaker.
Moulton suggested they already have enough signatures to prevent Pelosi from getting 218 votes but declined to specify exactly how many.
The whole point of the letter is to accelerate this process so that it doesnt peel out on to the floor, he said. Shes the one thats trying to drive this to a floor vote. We want to make it clear before it comes to that.

Haha. She’ll probably try.
Pelosi will win easily.
I'd hate to run out of popcorn before this potential fiasco is complete.
Like Hillary and Superdelegates... ain’t nobody better get between Nancy and that gavel... she’ll find a way and make them pay.
I need a bucket o popcorn for this!
Are you sure America cares?
Don’t forget selfies, lattes, craft beer. I think when a few more of us old folk die off, it’s over as far as a republic form of government for the USA.
I notice that Maxine has not attempted to refute Trump’s claim that she has an exceptionally low IQ.
><><
She’s probably still looking up “IQ”.
I can see that point, but it could also backfire if they choose a more articulate and “cool” leader.
Better to keep someone we know is very unpopular as the face of their party - plus it would infuriate their base if she were to be elected as the Speaker with Republican votes. Could be wrong, but I think that is a win-win.
Exactly - that would infuriate the Dem base.
