When I found out my wife was pregnant, I told my then boss Id be taking a week off in April with no notice.
The bonehead actually said As long as no one else is off that week
I look at him with contempt and told him it wasnt an option.
When Mrs WBill was pregnant, my boss wanted to send me to the other side of the country on her due date. It was the 30th, for a point of reference.
I told him "No." He said, "But the work needs to get done."
I told him that I wasn't leaving my pregnant wife on the date that she was going to have a baby. End of Discussion.
He replied...."Weelllllll..... we can work with you on this. What if - let's just say, I don't know if I can get it approved, but let's just say for argument's sake - that I do you an enormous favor and instead of sending you on the 30th, you go on the 29th. Or - or!!!- maybe even the 28th. Of course, you'll owe me one later, but we can work that out. How about that?"
Idiot. He and "his partner", if you get my meaning, didn't ever need to worry about having kids so he had zero comprehension of the situation. Thankfully, I found a new job and quit. Coincidentally, my final day was the 30th. :-)
