You can expect a "drinking checkup" when you visit the doctor. All adults, including pregnant women, should be screened for unhealthy alcohol use by their primary care physicians, the United States Preventive Services Task Force advises. For those patients who drink above the recommended limits, doctors should provide brief counseling to help them reduce their drinking, according to the new task force statement published Tuesday in the medical journal JAMA.
As far as teens, the independent panel of medical experts came up empty. The task force said it did not find enough evidence to make a recommendation for or against alcohol screening and counseling for those under the age of 18. The panel is calling for more research.
Unhealthy alcohol use means drinking beyond the recommended limits. No more than four drinks in a single day and 14 drinks in a week is the line drawn for men age 21 to 64, according to National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. For women and older men, the institute advises no more than three drinks in one day and no more than seven drinks in a week. There is no safe level of alcohol for pregnant women, according to the institute.

Expect exercise monitoring as well à la 1984.

This is EXACTLY what MADD et al have been aiming for all along.
Little to do with actual road safety, and everything to do with CONTROL!
Impaired driving used to be based on a scientific rating of BAC. Folks got the message, DUI fell off, they lowered the DUI trigger point and lo and behold: look at the spike in drunks on the road! Again folks cut down, then the BAC limit was lowered, and BOOM! another spike in drunk drivers!
Now they are trying to tell us we aren’t allowed to consume at our own desired level even in our own homes.
Yeah, that worked out well last time, didn’t it?
From my last conversation with my Dr 15 drinks per week is the upset number. So 4 drinks 3X per week is ok. 3 drinks 5x per week is ok. Assuming Free Republic readers can do some basic math keep it under 15 drinks per week
You will wear a tracking device citizen which will monitor your health and location at all times for your own good!
If you dont you will not receive social security, housing or be able to use banking services in the US - thats your choice as a free citizen under the Cortez amendment.
Bingo
There is a big difference between not establishing a “safe” drinking level for pregnant women (because nobody would dare conduct a study that would do so) and declaring that no amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy (which implies that a study was done and all drinking was found to be harmful)
The “Ness” app for that?
The correct answer would be, No, I never touch the stuff.
Its here. My insurance company wanted me to get in on so called health and wellness checks. Because I refused, my premiums went up 50 bucks a month. That is extortion. I see my PMD annually for a check up. I am in reasonably good health for 61. No hypertension, cholesterol is controlled, no diabetes or heart disease. I am an adult...if there is something wrong with me I will discuss it with my MD and get treatment options. These wellness checks want to shove a variety of vaccines down your throat, make your lab checks more frequent, document exercise, etc. I refuse to take a flu vaccine because they usually don’t prevent the flu and the injection has thermisol as an ingredient.
My generation of women drank while pregnant.
A drink while out to dinner harms no one, even the baby.
Not ONE of us had any problems.

There was a Lefty commenter on Fox News who would occasionally agree with something Conservative. People started thinking she was coming around to our side. But when Obamacare started up and the requirement for intrusive physicals began, she actually said why should I have to pay for health problems of fat people or smokers (acknowledging that Obamacare was one step away from single-payer) Does anyone remember who that was?
I lost all my bottles of booze when my boat sank with all my guns on board

Brief counseling. Thats funny. We can meet over drinks for that, right?
