When we get to the point the only real function of NATO is to drain US Taxdollars can we just up and quit?

France can not pay NATO because it is paying all those muslims in hopes they do not murder frenchman or riot and destroy more property. Of course, the muslims still murder and riot.

I meant to post this paragraph from the article (mods: adding this still doesn't exceed acceptable excerpt size limit)...
[Woodrow Wilson] ended up a tragic figure,” assessed Hanson. “He missed one central point: When you’re a wartime figure, you have to put your national interest first, and you have to ensure victory, and humiliation [of the enemy], and the defeat of your enemy before you talk about peace. He talked about peace first and victory second. That didn’t work.”
I read an article here on FR the other day which reminded me that the U.S., with all its manufacturing capacity, didn't contribute one tank or aircraft to WWI because Wilson, the professor, "chose to run war production with a series of boards and administrations; the result was a bureaucratic mess." He’s French, it’s his nature to be politically absurd.

The creators of the Maginot Line want to engineer a new army? This will be fun to watch. Only next time maybe we should stay out of saving them.

The French want a EU army, headed by the French but paid by EU taxpayers. But then armed with white flags and soldiers shouting “bang bang” because of the lack of funding for ammo.

Hanson added, “It’s what French leaders always do when their popularity is down in the 20s, which is where Macron’s is.”

Just so, Macron is following the popular French pastime of disparaging the USofA and any non-LEFTist President. Trump horrifies them almost as much as Ronald Reagan did. They even called Bush'43 a 'cowboy' and nearly fell over in ecstasy when Obama became President.

Macron has replaced Obama as “the LOCAL JOKE” country leader on the international scene. Largely because O isn’t in office anymore. Would really be a hoot if these two morons were in office at the same time. 🤮

America’s big mistake in WWI was ever getting involved in the first place. Had we not, both sides would have been forced to reach a reasonable negotiated settlement that would not have set the stage for another world war in 20 years. America stepping in handed victory to the French whose vindictiveness and blatant hypocrisy made Hitler politically possible.

Oh and 117,000 American boys would not have been killed for nothing.

Let them, no force them, to create their own EU army

It might shock them out of their nanny-statism, and then we can worry less about the Russian bogeyman.

Macron forgets that the cause of WWI was imperialism. The result was nationalism. The cause of WWII was imperialism (in the guise of national socialism, communism, militarism). So what does Macron want now? European imperialism with France and Germany in control of subject peoples on the periphery.

An All-European military of meaningful size will have the same problems that divided the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Constant games over influence, command, and especially delivering the funds to pay for the war. Is Macron relying on the Muslim influx to finish off whatever national spirit remains?

...French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal for a European Union army is “absurd,” noting France’s failure to meet its financial commitments to NATO.

LOL - we all should have seen it - but only the great ones - men like Victor Davis Hanson - catch 'the obvious'... Macron’s a deadbeat - France is trying to welch on a debt...
