When I was a teenager I read “Something Of Value”, a novel about the violent Mau Mau uprising in Kenya published in 1955. It included depictions of the British counter-insurgency operations, especially the local landowners methods. That is how I learned about total war and the necessary dedication to providing no quarter in times of extreme crisis.

The winner will be the person who screams "Saul Alinsky you ignominious bastard I read your book!"
