When America's powerful pro-gun group told doctors to mind their own business, the response was swift, furious and viral.
"Unless you've had someone's heart stop beating in your hands, you don't get to tell those of us who have what is and is not our 'lane'," trauma surgeon David Morris, 42, told the BBC.
The National Rifle Association's tweet on Wednesday sparked anger.
It came just hours before a gunman killed 12 people in a California bar.
"Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane," the NRA tweeted.

Lemme guess, pro-abort doctors who’ve killed 50,000,000 in America alone, far more than any gun.
Okay brave one, tell them so? Then watch their reaction. Don’t drill a hole in your end of a boat when someone else drills a hole in theirs.
The error rates have to be compared to the treatment attempts. Nobody wants there to be no doctors.
You won’t “win” with logic against the Left...they don’t understand it. That would be a stupid “argument” from the doctors. Some wouldn’t be able to have the expansive God-complex doing some other work.
It sounded more like one of the old NRA "oops" reactions than the recent NRA efforts, which are generally pretty good these days.
That being said, doctors have no greater standing than anyone else in this discussion, "feelings" notwithstanding.
Then so much more so will you “win” with illogic?
Don’t lose people on the fence.
Still doesn’t trump our right to self defense and protection which turns someone smaller, weaker, in a wheelchair, etc into an equal against a larger or multiple assailants.
Unfortunately we’re all in the same boat, with accountability from the incompetants.
Doctors should consider which side of the political divide thinks they should work for free.
I worked in a big city ER for years.One of the many,many*many* important lessons I learned during my tenure was that guns/knives/lead pipes/baseball bats/fists/cars don’t kill people....people kill people!
What about those of us who are pro gun?
If we didn’t have our guns Doctors would be working for free.
Physician mistake kills more than 10X of ALL GUN DEATHS, not merely accidental gun deaths. 400,000 physician-caused deaths vs 30,000 gun deaths per year.
I don’t trust doctors at all. Most doctors get eight minutes to diagnose and treat a patient. I have been misdiagnosed more times than not, because doctors just don’t care. All they care about is getting the bill paid. $200 for 8 minutes and a misdiagnosis is a waste of my money and time.
I’m so sorry about your grandmother. I can imagine how frustrating it is.

It is the ONLY argument. Let them fix their own far larger problem before trying to fix the far lesser problem of firearms. They aren't going to quit....the money and prestige is too much of an ego-boost.
Doctors should stick to doctoring. Guns and physicians are not really related topics.

Guns have been around since the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock but mass shootings began in 1966 in the Texas Tower shooting. Since then there have been many mass shootings and they seem to be getting more common. Something changed since 1966 and I think I know what it is. It is known that the CIA has used mentally ill people to commit murders. They are hypnotized by professional hypnotists and they are given a post hypnotic suggestion to forget that they did the act.
This is not a “conspiracy theory”. In the 1970’s Senator Frank Church had a Senate investigation of the CIA and found many crimes and human rights abuses committed by them. They even murdered a CIA scientist Frank Olsen who was thrown out of a window after being drugged.
Are there CIA who can get people to commit murder and not remember? Are there people in the CIA or FBI who are psychopaths who are capable of doing these terrible things without guilt? The answer is yes.
The series of mass killings that we have been experiencing is being done by psychopaths in the government. They are our worst enemies, they are the enemy within. They are callously killing innocent people to put pressure to give up guns and the 2nd Amendment.
