I’ve never worked for a law firm -

Is she saying that she would have rather dated, say, a partner in the firm? Or is she saying that lowly she was well beneath the status of the black summer associate that whites were fawning over?

Possibly she was saying “don’t get your meat where you get your bread,” (not interested in any employee of the firm)....I doubt it though.

““don’t get your meat where you get your bread,”” That was my motto where I worked and was single. No way was I getting involved with anybody at work. Ever. Saw too many bad results.
