President Trump on Friday morning signed a proclamation that would deny any asylum claims made by immigrants who entered the country illegally, in response to increased illegal entry along the U.S.-Mexico border. Under this directive, claims for asylum may only be made at ports of entry to the United States. The White House released a full explanation and details of the order on Twitter.
Trump told reporters on Friday, people can come in, but they have to come in through the ports of entry, and that, to me, is a very important thing, In response to the migrant caravan making their way through Mexico, Trump said were not letting them in, but theyre trying to flood our country. We need the wall.
The proclamation was signed by the President because of his belief that the laws are obsolete, and theyre incompetent. They are the worst laws any country has anywhere in the world, and its only because we dont have the Democrats votes.
The President reiterated that he is in favor of immigration and acknowledged that the U.S. needs new immigrants to fill job openings. He further explained, we need people in our country, but they have to come in legally, and they have to have merit.
Trumps latest move to curb illegal immigration will almost definitely be challenged in court, but the administration claims this proclamation to be legal and falls within the scope of presidential powers.

Gee, more common sense.
I can’t take all this common sense.
I agree, and if we do finally get this executive order, it will be interesting to see how the allegedly conservative majority in the Supreme Court will handle this. There's no doubt that such an order will be challenged by Democrats and by Republicans who are perfectly happy with an infestation of anchor babies and their families as long as they get someone to mow their lawns and do their laundry below minimum wage.
“It appears the wall is a dead issue.”
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the Wall was ALWAYS a Non-Starter, It can NOT be built. To do so would end the War on Drugs. DO you want to be the guy to Wholesale FIRE Millions of Government Employee Union Members?? What about the Hundreds of Thousands of Judges and Lawyers? what will they do for work if we build a wall?
There are literally Millions and Millions of people directly employed and funded by the War on Drugs, the Wall would end those jobs overnight, Never Going to happen!!!

Just for the record, I’m not the one who said “It appears the wall is a dead issue” - in fact, I was arguing just the opposite. :-)
I support this action, Mr. President!!!!
You can't compare those two. The ACA was forced down our throats and shoved up our rears until the two met in our intestines. The wall is something that will actually protect us.
“President Trump failed in his promise to have Mexico pay for the wall. The GOP Congress chose not to fund the wall. The Democrat House will not fund the wall. It appears the wall is a dead issue.”
This is 100% right and goes to show that our congress simply does not want a secure southern border. The only move left is for Trump to force them to include funding by shutting down the government.
Could a lame duck congress approve this?
Agreed. He’s building a virtual wall. Denying welfare and birthright citizenship will cause many illegals to self deport or stay home.
I’m not against all legal immigration, but we should darn well be choosy about who we let in. And the numbers don’t need to be as high as they are.
What’s the over/under in days for an Obama judge to overrule?
“Im not against all legal immigration, but we should darn well be choosy about who we let in. And the numbers dont need to be as high as they are.”

What annoys me is the special treatment given to those with refugee status.
My area had an “invasion” of Russians back in the 80s.
These refugees were put on the TOP of the list for ALL subsidized housing, including Senior housing—they bumped aside WWII vets who had been waiting, sometimes for several years——within 5 years virtually all subsidized housing was inhabited by Russians.
It’s just not fair.
.
This country has been completely bass ackwards for decades. So infuriating.
This is somewhat confusing, anybody here know????—
Can people come into the country through ports of entry and claim asylum and stay here while their claims are investigated? or must people stay out of the US until their asylum claims are looked into.
Can a proclamation be enforced the way an executive order can?
One step at a time offer to much at once the media will pimp it as a hate issue they are bad enough at doing so.
It’s good to see we now have a real president with a spine and brains.
Words have power...
You say he has failed to build the wall, did you expect it to appear overnight?
Have sections of the wall been built?
Answer, yes
Have all of the logistics and planning for the rest of it been prepared
Answer, Yes
So unless things have changed the wall is in progress stymied only by funding which points to Congress people who refuse to allocate the funds. You declare he has failed which belies your real position in my opinion as a closet opponent as your words reveal your truth.
Then you declare that you “Support” the President
Yeah, right
“...there should have been a high tax (at least 20-25%) imposed on all remittances sent to Mexico by relatives of Mexican nationals.”
That has been an oft-quoted formula (with varying percentages) for wall funding. An interesting question would be: at what percentage would the law of diminishing returns compel remitters to give up earning money here and move back there? Also, is the remittance charge/tax better as a wall-funding solution or as a mechanism of self-deportation and a disincentive to illegal immigration?
Just watched Incredibles 2, Edna Mode does a great star turn.
Needs repeating
