A high-ranking Facebook executive was allegedly forced to resign after refusing to back down on his support for Donald Trump - it has been revealed.

Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey was said to have come under intense pressure from Facebook's leading figures after it emerged he had donated $10,000 to an anti-Hillary Clinton group during the 2016 Presidential election.

According to correspondence revealed by the Wall Street Journal, the revelation about his donation sparked a furore which saw him fired six months later.

Facebook higher-ups including founder Mark Zuckerberg himself were said to have attempted to pressgang Luckey into publicly supporting libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson.

When do Republican run companies get to fire every Democrat they employ because they’re worthless Democrats?

Few Democrats work in “Republican-run” companies - or any companies at all. Most that work are in government or quasi-government jobs, and many Dems don’t work at all.

I guess they could if they wanted to. But Republicans actually believe in the Constitution and Freedom Of Association, Free Speech, etc. Rats hate those things.

They can do it today if they have the balls. Political Affiliation is not a protected class.

For those who don’t know, this has been going on in Silicon Valley companies since 2002.

Companies such as FB or Twitter have become such a common means of communication that they really should be considered common carriers like the phone companies. They perhaps need to be regulated and stop this monkey business.

Poor man. He will have a hard time finding work in the high-tech field now.

Hey! Maybe he could start a conservative alternative to FB! There would be customers for that.

Zuckerberg supported the libertarian candidate? LOL! These people really live in a different world.

This shouldn’t be surprising and I bet it had little to do with DJT or Hillary.

When someone like Facebook buys a relatively small operation like Oculus there’s often not a good place for a freewheeling founder to fit in.

Or he saw the Libertarian as taking votes from Trump thus making it easier for the Bride of XXX-42 to win. It wouldn't force Luckey into publicly supporting Hillary, but have the same electoral effect.

There is an interesting article in the WSJ about this as well. Seems that Zuckerberg lied to Congress when he said that Luckey’s firing had nothing to do with politics.

I think the GOP should introduce a bill to ban discrimination based on political preference. See if the Dems are as tolerant as they claim.

...”Which should tell you all you need to know about Facebook and where their loyalties are at.”...

I left FB quite a while ago, because I sensed that it had the power to do great harm to the truths which honest people seek. While I enjoyed the photos of friends and some of the posts which put us in touch with one another on a daily basis, over time I saw people changing their own histories and I began to see why FB was so popular. It was used frequently as a “do over” for people who needed a different life story. Now, almost everyone is on FB and if you are not, you might miss important news from your own community or from among your friends. Still, I will not go back there. I will remain out of step regarding the popular appeal of social media. Like our main stream media, it is full of misinformation, some of which could be dangerous to your personal, political and public health. My opinion.

Oh yeah - I’ve had long time friends who’ve fallen out of contact that if I were on Facebook I could keep in touch with them - as if it’s too hard for them to properly “socialize” and communicate without blind blasting their life events on a board.

I’ve own a small company. Employ about 200 people and have for 20 years.

Among the white collar workers I’ve employ, there is a 100% overlap between the people who were useless and incompetent or outright crooks and embezzlers and their active connection with the Democrook party.

It’s not illegal to not hire Democrats in my state. I look for Democrat primary voting or donations to Democrats and don’t hire them.

Stop confusing employment with work. Plenty of Democrats are employed by the government AND even conservative owned companies. That’s not the same as working.

I had a hard-working Democrat friend once who was complaining about all of the people on government assistance who refused to work. I stuck out my hand and waited for him to shake it. Then I said, “Welcome to conservatism.” (Unfortunately, last time I talked with him he still could not snap out of the liberal mind control.)

Good point; my bad. I find the libs in my workplace have set the bar so low in terms of “work” that it is easy to shine while running on half my cylinders.

When Don Corleone cautioned Sonny “Never tell people what you’re thinking”, you may apply the same logic to social media. No need to broadcast your views/opinions as long as we have secret ballots determine our elections; there are untold numbers of people at work trying to unseat anyone who won’t “get right”.
