Then you don't know history. The common French soldier fought well and bravely What he didn't have was a leadership that understood modern war. Like many generals, they were prepared to fight the last war. The Maginot Line was a failure and the Germans exploited it weaknesses. The invention of the tank and forming divisions around did was more responsible for the quick French capitulation than the fighting spirit of the French soldier.
I'm not a French apologist but I am a student of history.
One must remember it was the French soldiers who stayed behind at Dunkirk so that the majority of British soldiers could escape to reform and fight the Germans and keep Britain as a base for American soldiers to prepare for WW2
