The network of ISIS-supporting groups waging an online propaganda, incitement and recruitment campaign quickly seized upon the terror group's official claim of a Friday attack in central Melbourne with a vow to strike the country "however we want."
The new call for attacks follows material issued several weeks before the Bourke Street rampage, which encouraged jihadists to concentrate on poisoning Australia's food supplies.
A 31-year-old man crashed a blue pickup loaded with gas canisters onto a sidewalk today and then jumped out and stabbed three people. ABC News in Australia reported that one man died at the scene and two were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The attacker, who was shot by police and died at the hospital, reportedly was known to intelligence authorities. Police have since tightened security around central Melbourne while stating that they know of no "ongoing threat at the moment."

Don’t try to make sense. Are you an islamophobe?(s)
I can’t think of anything recent and specific.
We’re an ally of the United States, and a nation that comes from a Christian background and those two things alone are enough to make us a target for these mongrel dogs.
The Bali Bombing in 2002 that killed 88 Australians involved specifically targeting Australians.
The Australian Embassy in Jakarta was bombed in 2004.
Muslim terror attacks on Australia are not new.
Mostly it comes down to simply being a friend to the United States who these scum see as ‘The Great Satan’ and therefore see us as a ‘Lesser Satan’.
But it’s not entirely that.
In the late 1990s, Australia lead a military intervention (the US was one of a number of allies who supported us in that) to secure the independence of East Timor (a largely Catholic country) from Indonesian (a largely Muslim country) rule. The fact that the Indonesian government was fairly cooperative (it was somewhat reluctantly granting independence, but it was) doesn’t change the fact that to some of these Muslim maniacs, we’re an enemy in our own right.
And if you want to go back far enough - Australia’s first internationally significant military operation was against Turkey in 1915 - again, against a Muslim nation. The Turks, for the most part, don’t have a major problem with us - they let us carry out major commemorations on their soil every year - but to Muslim extremists, we’ve been their enemy quite a long time.
And speaking as a retired officer of the Royal Australian Navy - I’m proud to be their enemy. And proud to be a friend and ally of the United States.
To the terrorists, I say, it simply. Bring it on, you bastards.
Thank you for your above board reply Sir. As a historian I appreciate the historical events you share here very much. We don’t get much history from the southern hemisphere up here because it doesn’t directly affect us much. Apparently I need to invest some time digging down under.
Seriously... Thank you for your time to share.
