More than 60 heads of state and government are converging on France for the commemorations that will crescendo Sunday with ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, exactly a century after the armistice.

Also worth noting that the peaceful coming together of so many disparate world leaders is something worth celebrating. Lingering rivalries and conflicts not withstanding: there has indeed been progress made since those fateful days a century ago...
Im surprised Mueller & all his comrades havent dropped a bomb bashing President Trump while hes out of the country.

An interesting alternative history story to write would be a history that would have evolved from a WWI defeated France. That was part of its motivation to jump into the 1914 Balkan crisis - assassination of he Archduke (Prior to that many assassinations [e.g., 1898 assassination of the Austrian Empress Elizabeth in Geneva by an Italian anarchist!] & many Balkan crises!) Remember France was thirsting for revenge from its defeat in the Franco-Prussian War. A WWI defeat would have made that thirst even worse. Would a totalitarian Nazi-style or Communist-style regime have arisen in France as an answer for that desire for revenge? That would be an interesting “what-if” to flesh out and write!

It has taken a century for it to become fully apparent how momentous the changes ushered in by that four-year conflict were: the fall of five dynasties (Romanov, Hohenzollern, Wittelsbach, Ottoman, and Habsburg) and the virtual ending of an aristocratic social system that had been in place for nearly a millennium. Frantic acceleration of technological development, especially the communications and mobility technologies that have changed the daily life of nearly everyone on the planet. Four years is not a long time for that and the shock waves are still reverberating.
