Yup. One reason the I support local conventional power stations. Massive plant(s) miles away from the customer base is a waste and causes transmission losses. Today's tech can put a 6 megawatt station virtually any there is a gas natural supply.

Yes, and try to get the “not in my backyard” lunatics to agree to this.

Every time my company tries to do proactive vegatation management in our rights of way, especially with large trees in towns and cities, the public gets completely hysterical.

It can takes us 4 to 5 years to site a simple small 40 MVA neighborhood substation—there’s that much hysteria and legal hoops we have to jump through. Half the time the raging lunatics get their way and we’re forced to relocate our planned substation sites over and over again. But of course, the same lunatics scream bloody murder if their power gies off for five seconds.
