The U.K. doesn’t require a family to accept the payments. If a family does accept the payments, then, just like in the U.S., with each child, the parents receive an additional payment. As the children age-out, the next child brings yet another payment.

May God bless all families, including this one. They have to do what they have to do, in order to support their children, even if that means collecting some government benefits. I doubt they’re having children just for an additional little bit of money per week.
Still, this is a story of a 14yo girl becoming pregnant by an 18yo, with both going on to have 20 more children, collecting benefits for each one. No way would they be applauded here if they were doing the same in the U.S.
I think the baby at 14 was a sub-optimal situation, too, but it was a long time ago.
