Vogue Article Shames White Women for Voting Republican

If you’re a white woman, the writers at Vogue Magazine apparently believe you are too ignorant to be voting.

In a scathing article published Thursday, Voguecontributing editor Michelle Ruiz went after white women who voted in the midterms, who according to Ruiz “overwhelmingly threw their support behind conservative Republican male candidates. Again.”

It would appear that white women are simply not meeting the voting expectations of the Vogueeditor. In her article, Ruiz pointed to past examples of candidates Roy Moore and President Donald Trump, each of whom received a significant portion of the white women’s vote, before pivoting to the 2018 midterms.

“White women overall rendered more disappointment,” complained Ruiz.

The article went on to lament the fact that in Georgia, roughly 75% of white women voted for Republican Jack Kemp in the governor’s race, while Democrat Stacey Abrams received an estimated 97% of the black women’s vote.

The problem however, according to Ruiz, wasn’t so much that white women voted for a white man over a black woman--instead, it’s that Kemp is “passionately pro-life”, while Abrams “is a staunch protector of women’s reproductive rights.”

Vogue’sRuiz takes issue, too, with the heated Senate race in Texas, where ”60 percent of white women cast their ballots for Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, a supporter of alleged assaulters President Trump and Brett Kavanaugh, over Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is dedicated to improving women’s healthcare.”

Again, Ruiz’s main issue with white women voting appears to be their aversion to voting for pro-abortion candidates.

And although Ruiz characterizes black women as the “underappreciated backbone of the Democratic party,” she believes “white women voters are establishing themselves as maddeningly, confusingly . . . unsisterly.”

But as if that weren’t enough, the Voguepiece then goes even further, with Ruiz speculating that perhaps white women are just too ignorant and gullible to vote properly.

“Are they so invested in their own white privilege that they simply don’t care about other women?”, asked Ruiz. “Are they parroting their Republican husbands and/or brainwashed by Fox & Friends? Maybe and maybe.”

Jackie Payne, who has worked for both the National Organization for Women (NOW) and Planned Parenthood Federation of America, seems to agree. Payne told Voguethat she believes the tendency for white women to vote for conservative candidates is due to “women voters having a lack of information and living with close ties to conservative men.”

According to Payne, these same men are in control of what is being shown to their wives on the TV, which is tuned to Fox News. And she says that white women are so busy doing all of the housework--”the lion’s share of domestic labor,” she calls it--that they “tune out and end up with a lack of information about politics.”

“They are swimming in the deep end of white male patriarchy,” said Payne.

Not surprised as I thought it would be just a matter of time until they turned on white women.

I am sure Mark would agree that history has a way of repeating itself and we are living it now.
