Andrew Gillum waffles on concession in Florida governor's race
The Washington Times ^ | November 8, 2018 | James Varney

Democratic legal teams kicked into action Thursday in Florida, demanding a recount they insist will ultimately declare Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson the winner and with defeated Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum hedging his concession.

Mr. Nelson had already signaled his intention to fight the results, but Mr. Gillum’s surprise announcement further roils the electoral waters in the Sunshine State.

Republican former Rep. Ron DeSantis, a strong ally of President Trump, beat Mr. Gillum, the left-wing mayor of Tallahassee, in the unofficial results and Mr. Gillum conceded shortly before midnight last Tuesday.

But in a brief statement Thursday, he appeared to waffle on that.

“On Tuesday night, the Gillum for Governor campaign operated with the best information available about the number of outstanding ballots left to count,” the statement read. “Since that time, it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported. Our campaign, along with our attorney Barry Richard, is monitoring the situation closely and is ready for an outcome, including a state-mandated recount.”

The statement provided no information on the size or location of these “uncounted ballots,” but they echoed claims made Thursday morning in a conference call the Nelson campaign arranged with Marc Elias, an election lawyer with the powerhouse Democratic firm of Perkins Coie.

And my understanding is that a recount is triggered at a certain level of difference, not on any demand for same.

The scary thing is how close Gillum has come, even with his views. Anyone ruling him out on the national level is a fool; in objective terms, he’s probably about as good as Bill Clinton, who was really good at the game.

So much for Joe Biden’s prophecy as to who will demand a recount. The greatest whine of 2016, now has a new 2018 vintage.

Florida deserves what they get. If Florida law says results are supposed to be done. They should send in the state police, or whatever, to stop and secure the area. Watching this sham proceed for days is a joke. It is also a disgrace to a federal election. If they want to screw with state elections, fine. But federal elections are something else. I’m tired of it all... just give it to Gillum and Scott and let those conservatives that could have done something drown in the swill.

Broward has honed election cheating into a fine art.

It’s about 17K now, but I think most of the Broward vote is in.

How do you know?

Can someone show me ONE election law that a judge has ever respected?

This is not going Scott’s way. The lefties will find some judge to rubber stamp whatever crap they pull.

What was it that Joe Biden "guaranteed" us the other day about refusing to accept the outcome of the election?

From the differences in the votes reported tabulated already and the amount listed as cast in total on the Broward VRS site.

They’ve reported 707k votes tallied and 716k cast.

That means there are up to about 9k left.

“Since that time, it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported.” Translation the democrats have located boxes of uncounted ballots in a closet somewhere. Right no we are working on making sure the count is more than 39,000 to make me the winner. It takes time to make up 39,000+ votes. The democrat/Soros machine at work. Let me guess they will find 40,000 votes 100% all for Gillum

Broward Co. has not completed vote-by-mail, early voting or provisional ballots. https://floridaelectionwatch.gov/CountyReportingStatus. In Broward Co. there are around 25,000 fewer U.S. Senate ballot votes than any other office on the ballot, including FL Governor.

An article this morning quotes the illustrious Brenda Calhoun Snipes:

“Whatever is back there we have to finish it today,” she said, referring
to a room next to the Broward Canvassing Board’s meeting where
workers were feeding ballots into machines. “I don’t know if they’re
all in the room but I know they’re all opened. Opening is a big task
and getting them out of that envelope. But they’re all opened, I do know
that ... we’re finishing the count as we speak.”

“I have not had an opportunity to take a look at that,” she said about
the under-voting issue in the Senate race. “I heard that for the first
time yesterday. I just came out of a conference call [with the state].”

“There’s no calibration issue. Those machines are brand new. They’re
not even a year old...

It’s Secretary Of State Detzner who is over the Division of Elections. I wonder what his political affiliation is and what, if anything, he’s doing to clean up the mess. Why is he permitted a known cheater to continue to work with ballots?

Detzner has been a Republican since 1984. He was acting FL SoS under Jeb Bush for less than two months back in 2003. He has been SoS under Rick Scott since 2012.
