"He walked up to the entrance at 11.20pm and shot the bouncer before making his way into the venue. He then shot a young female cashier before throwing smoke grenades onto the dance floor and letting off rounds into the crowd."

I sometimes carry without a round in the chamber. Never at night (when I'm rarely out anyways) and I haven't been in a bar since before I retired. If I carry at night, I put a round in the chamber before going out.

Still...in a scenario like this, if I hear a gunshot outside the door, I'm going to draw and chamber a round ASAP. I've bumped up my carry from my LCP to a Ruger LC9 with a spare magazine. By the time the guy enters, I will have my gun fully ready to fire - and I'm no Quick-Draw MacGraw!

In Arizona, among 100 people, there would probably be a dozen doing the same thing. Heck, the crossfire might be the most dangerous thing in Arizona! But of course, in a college bar in Southern California, only the murders are allowed to carry guns!

"California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times."

PS: Hero. Absolute hero.
