This is true. Election judges and election clerks check for voter registration and proof of identification, not citizenship. When someone is registered to vote they have already been vetted for citizenship requirements at the point of registration (Drivers License or County Voter Registrar) by someone trained to vet proof of citizenship documents. An election clerk has about 4 hours of training on how to look up voter registration, what are acceptable forms of ID, how to process voters through showing ID to “cast ballot”, and how to handle exceptions. At the election I worked if someone wasn’t registered to vote in the county they couldn’t vote in that county. If they could provide proof of voter registration and ID and still were not in the county system they were given a provisional ballot.

There was a caller on local Austin radio yesterday AM who described herself as knowledgeable of the process from work experience. She said that superiors had instructed those processing registrations NOT to ask about citizenship.

Therein lies the problem. The system of vetting only works if the system is applied. I guarantee that don't ask/don't tell is being broadly applied to the registration of illegals in all the big cities and everywhere south of the Nueces.
