What do we know about Whitaker?
On August 6th, 2017, one month prior to joining the Justice Department, Whitaker wrote an opinion column for CNN titled "Mueller's investigation of Trump is going too far."
I posted about Session's replacement back in september...
Sessions' CoS is Matthew Whitaker, who has called the Russia Investigation a "Witch Hunt" and was critical of Mueller when he investigated Trump family finances, so he might be good. From other reporting, the standard succession would see the Solicitor General, Noel Francisco, take the DAG job, and he is also reputed to be a solid conservative. Sounds like either would be far better than Rosenstein.
Whitaker is from Iowa, politically active in the GOP. Good guy and was a pretty good Hawkeyes football player.
Word is that Mueller and Russia will fall to Noel Francisco, Solicitor General. A courtroom guy.
