Beto O’Rourke For President In 2020? Defeat To Ted Cruz Increases Odds Of Run Against Donald Trump
Newsweek ^ | November 6, 2018 | Jason Le Maire

Beto O’Rourke fell agonizingly short of becoming the first Democrat in a quarter of a century to win a statewide race in Texas but he may yet get a shot at an even bigger prize. O’Rourke, who was projected to lose to Republican incumbent Ted Cruz on Tuesday, had vowed that he would serve out his full six-year term in the Senate if victorious and would not run for president in 2020.

But a defeat frees him of those obligations. And given how close he got to unseating a Republican in the ruby-ed Lone Star State, he is sure to face loud calls from Democrats to run for the party’s nomination for the White House. Indeed, those cries had begun even before the results in the race were final on Tuesday.

Someone remind Beto that HE lost to Cruz, and, Cruz lost to Trump, in 2016.

That puts him third on the list.

He needs to learn to tap dance and use that to salve his ego.

My point was simply that Cruz was much less popular than Abbott among Republican voters.

That was my point as well, just backing up your point.

"JFK wannabe."

Plus, there is the Trump is a dummy factor.

The general dim opinion of Trump is that he is so stupid and disliked, any clown could beat him (no matter who is trying on the red nose).

That should make the dim primaries a real 3 ring affair. Even Avenatti is talking about running (please).

How many failed Senate campaigners have ever gone on to win the WH?

He can get “caught” with a tranny in New Orleans, and that will help his boner fides (sic).

People, dismiss Beto at your own risk.

He's incredibly popular. He's the exact kind of young, hip, "ethnic" (shh... don't tell anyone he's actually white) candidate the Democrats would love to run. He's sitting on a mountain of money. He's put together a massive mailing list of supporters and a well-oiled campaign machinery. And, he's experienced the painfully-earned but incredibly valuable lessons of losing.

Plus, he doesn't have to win Texas to become President.

Beto isn't going anywhere. We'll be seeing more of him in the next couple of years.

“If he was smart, he’d run against Cornyn in 2020.”

I don’t think he’d be so lucky in a presidential vote year
