TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Ron DeSantis was elected governor of Florida on Tuesday, handing President Trump an important victory and extending the Republican Partys dominance in the nations third-largest state.
Mr. DeSantis, a 40-year-old former congressman, fended off his opponent, Andrew Gillum, one of the strongest candidates Florida Democrats had fielded in years. Republicans have now won every election for governor since 1998.
Every two years theres one day in November where elites dont call the shots, dont craft the narrative or set the agenda, Mr. DeSantis told jubilant supporters festooned in confetti in an Orlando hotel ballroom late on Tuesday night. On Election Day, its the voice of the people that rules.
He thanked President Trump for standing by him when it wasnt necessarily the smart thing to do.
I think you are going to get tired of me calling you asking you for things for Florida, Mr. DeSantis told the president from afar.

great but legalized the felon vote. So what happens next election?
Florida legalized the felon vote.
Well, now Gillum has spare time for that three-hour tour.
Dems will be in touch with as many felons as they can and get them registered.
No doubt about it.
lol!!
Well, now Gillum has spare time for that three-hour tour.

and his biggest decision will be......Ginger or Mary Ann???
It really is true that as this "Progressive" disease advances from the site of the tumor (i.e., the northeast), the healthy society becomes sick ... and it appears there is no permanent cure to stop the infection.
Amen!
I can’t believe he did as well as he did considering his legacy. Weird.
For a racist, black socialist to come this close tells me that Florida will be lost in the next election or two.
He should have gone down by 10 points. Granted, at least 2 points on his side were fraud - guaranteed. Still far too close considering what an extremist he is.
Ditto for Abrams in GA. She should have been demolished after her campaign and stands.
Neither of these “victories” bodes well for the future.
Just calling it like I see it.
Cut off the diseased limb.
Split the country - red and blue.
Our side can watch them turn into a mirror of North Korea as they collapse.
I’m just confused how it was even that close...
People are leaving NY and NJ in droves, many vote Democrat.
“great but legalized the felon vote. So what happens next election?”
Demographics is destiny. Felon vote plus more retirees from the northeast plus more immigrants getting citizenship plus more immigrant children reaching voting age equals a Democrat majority by the mid 2020’s. Florida will become California.
People flee the urban areas for retirement and then vote for the same progressive policies that destroyed the areas they left. The day a Democrat legislature votes for a “small” income tax, Florida is toast.
The Millennial generation is very, very liberal, after being indoctrinated for years through academia and media. I’m surrounded by them at work, and they are completely brainwashed.
I agree that unless something changes radically in our country we don’t have much time left.
Not only have the liberals outmaneuvered us demographically (by immigration), they have managed to seize control of education and the media and have turned the generation after us (I’m a late Boomer/early “Buster”) into mindless socialists and social justice warriors.
Gillum has more class than Bill Nelson.. Waiting for ET’s concession speech. This is the “Astronaut” who used his Congressional seat to bump a real payload specialist and get a ride at taxpayer dollars into space. Then stood by and let Obama dismantle the manned space program.
Gotta give Mr. Gillum credit. At least he conceded honorably. Puts him miles ahead of Hillary.
Let’s not forget we also banned offshore drilling and dog racing. This is what happens when Democrats go to the polls. They vote for the socialists and proceed to Christmas tree the rest of the ballot.
My guess: 2020 will be the last time Florida votes right of center. We’ll be downhill from there. My home state is slowly going the way of New York.
