Just remember, it’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you. In this case, though, it’s likelier to be paranoia than prophecy. The Daily Beast reports on the existential angst facing progressives if they come up short in their bid to win the House:
"Nearly two years of organizing, marching, candidate recruitment and unprecedented fundraising has led the Democratic party to a critical moment. On Tuesday, it can either reassert itself politically or fall short, prompting an utter and complete psychological meltdown.
Most in the party believe that the path they will go down will be the former; that they will gain a majority in the House of Representatives for the first time since former President Barack Obama’s first term. But paranoia is part of the Democratic DNA, especially after the shock of the 2016 election. And in the final stretch of the midterm campaign, a scenario in which the party is unable to flip the requisite 23 House seats looms in the dark recesses of the mind.
“It will be paralyzing for a while, it will,” said Neera Tanden, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress. “Candidly, I think there will be a fair amount of soul searching and people will feel back on their heels… We will have to rebuild. But the resistance is built on opposition to [Donald] Trump’s extremism. And the more extreme he is, the more we will have.”
Or, as veteran Democratic strategist Paul Begala put it: “After all this work, all these volunteers, it would be absolutely shattering.” "
Let’s say they do lose this opportunity. It might be “shattering” for progressives like Tanden the CPA because of their insistence that Democrats had to embrace a hard-Left agenda to become competitive. It would spell the end of Nancy Pelosi’s career, one of their House champions, and it might force her entire slate of leadership to give way to more moderate leaders from the Midwest and Rust Belt, where Democrats have had trouble competing. They might need to rethink their DNC leadership too, but Democrats won’t be “paralyzed” any more than Republicans were after losing in 2006 and 2008.

After all you liberal leftists have said and done and influence others to say and do, you can not be shattered enough. You have pushed me over the line.
But the polling data does not make sense if you look at the early voting numbers and the size of Trump rallies.
I don’t know if it’s so much the Republicans leading in early voting but that they are outperforming their usual turnout.
That’s where they err.

Where I vote in Louisiana it won’t make a difference in the national elections. My rep. is Steve Scalise who is in no danger of losing his seat, and my two senators aren’t running this year. There are a lot of local issues to vote for, which I will be voting for tomorrow.
We’ve only just begun to destroy them and we won’t rest until the democrat party resides only in Hell where it belongs. Dems have erected a mountain of lies that they think is formidable but we all know it’s nothing but a dung heap of corruption.
The commie media never mentioned in 2016 the HUGE Trump rallies that were happening. Every one of those people attending these rallies voted for Trump..now look at these rallies, its even BIGGER than in 2016
That used to be perfectly normal American politics, rallies, flags, stump speeches - it's a little baffling that the Dems dismiss this as passe when it kicked their collective booty in '16. Some folks just don't learn.
The longer they keep thinking Trump is extreme and the Left remains unhinged, the less likely they will be able to effectively counter him. Thank you Lord.
I can’t tell you how offended I am by the Left’s affectation that they are part of a Resistance. My late sainted mother was part of a real resistance in Denmark beginning in 1940 when she was 13. She was almost caught twice until my grandfather stepped in and put a halt to her activities. That was a real resistance against real tyranny with lives on the line.
No, they won't. They will double down on the socialism and violence. As for soul searching, they will not do any such thing because they know what it would reveal about them.
I hope it is shattering to them. I hope many decide to end it all right there.
It’s funny how rally size is now indicative of who’s going to win. It surely was NOT two years ago - especially on FR when I ( and a FEW others) said before the election that Trump would wipe her out based on the rally sizes of his vs hers
