So the idiot thinks all the names of candidates for each party should simply go on a “party list”, and all people vote for is one of the parties, and then the portion a party gets in the “national” popular vote would get to put persons from their party list in a proportionate number of seats? In that scenario they even want to do away with primary elections. The party bosses would decide who was on their list and that would be it.

I know that kind of nonsense would satisfy the Marxist run fellow travelers still, in error, called “Liberals” because all anyone would be voting for is not any particular representative, just a party, and it would be the party bosses that picked their choices from the party list.

The system of proportional representation is used in some national legislatures. What it does is to stimulate the formation of many small parties which necessitates the formation of coalition governments.
