Early voting surged to its highest levels yet in Floridas biggest counties on Saturday, giving Democrats new hope for a blue wave that could catapult Andrew Gillum to the governors mansion and keep Bill Nelson in the U.S. Senate.
Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough and Orange, the five biggest blue counties, all reported their highest one-day early voting totals of the 2018 campaign.
As a result, on a day when President Donald Trump rallied thousands of Republicans in Pensacola, the GOPs ballot advantage over the Democrats shrank to six-tenths of 1 percentage point (0.6), with GOP ballots at 40.8 percent of the statewide total and Democrats at 40.2 percent.
Those numbers are the combined early and vote-by-mail ballots cast by Republican and Democratic voters in all 67 counties....
Early voting by Democrats also broke the one million mark Saturday, and Democrats organized last-minute Souls to the Polls marches to drive early turnout even higher, two days before Election Day.
More Republicans than Democrats have voted on election day in the past two statewide elections in which Floridians narrowly favored Trump and fellow Republican Gov. Rick Scott.
The big three South Florida counties of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, home to about one-third of all Democrats in the state, historically have under-performed in past statewide elections compared to the state as a whole....
All three counties reported their highest 2018 early voting totals on Friday and Saturday....
... Republican Ron DeSantis planned to campaign in Daytona Beach and Boca Raton with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a legal advisor to Trump.

THIS is why I would not vote early even if I had the option. It does help with place with long lines, I guess.
Dems were ahead by almost 93,000 in 2016 and lost state wide.
That they are behind in the early vote in 2018, with the Panhandle still having early voting today, suggest the blue wave is not materializing in Fla.
Cross posting update:
Huge for rats almost. They lead in EV now about 88,000 votes and 28,000 or so combined.
From FR SpeedyInTexas
Yesterday wasnt just souls-to-polls but most Republican counties did not vote yesterday.
Big Dem counties were open.
IOW the miami paper is saying-——That’s right conservatives. You may as well stay home since you would be wasting your time voting. Our response-——Don’t forget they moved the dem voting date to 11/13 to avoid any problems at the polling places.
FOX just announced Dems voted 20,000 more c early votes than GOP.
What is going on there?????
Broward......ouch.
These people voted for the imbecile Sheriff Israel ......
.....idiot still has his job and a $800 million budget after the massacre of 17 students and faculty.
Epic Fail
Ds emerged from early voting with a lead of 23,659
In 2016, it was a whopping 94,000. We are 66k to the good, a number that will probably get a little better as all the Panhandle polls are open today (but no others).
Speedy I’m sure will post later this morning. This surge on Sunday was expected (or should have been) by anyone paying attention.
I was hoping we’d be in a little better shape but overall we trail Democrats by about 20-25 thousand going into Tuesday. Not catastrophic.
Some heavily Republican counties did not have their polls open yesterday.
Voter fraud surge! Souls to polls is just a cover.
FOX just announced that the Marxist and Communist ‘RATS miraculously pulled this out and won the “early vote” by 2500. Welcome to third world banana republic voting. America is officially another third world sh*thole.
Consider what Florida will look like with Gollum in charge. The only economic growth will be in moving truck rentals as thousands will be fleeing the high taxes and crime.
Whoops! Dropped a zero. 25,000 lead for the ‘RATS.
“Souls to the Polls sounds like the democrat graveyard vote.
While turnout this year is better than 2014. It’s not realistic to expect it to be as good as 2016. So, REPs cannot pull off as large of an election day comeback as they did in 2016. Good thing we won’t have to. Hopefully, the EV lead for DEMs will whittle down to less than 20k by the end of the day.
Big mistake.
Hope we win.
In 2016 we won the right to fight.
TODAY we need to fight!
If he is a Deep State operative, as many others have alleged, nothing will happen.
We need to know the 2014 numbers. That was a midterm. It was also a midterm the republicans did well. If we are doing better than 2014 then that would be pretty awesome.
Is 23K the D lead after Sunday’s vote?
