Federal Government Sends Miles of Concertina Wire to Border

In addition to the troops heading to the border, the government has also sent miles of razor wire.

The Commander of the U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, Terrence John O'Shauhnessy, spoke about the addition during a press conference on Monday.

"We have enough concertina wire to cover up to 22 miles already deployed, already to the border. We have additional concertina wire that we can string with over 150 miles available,” says O'Shauhnessy.

From residential to law enforcement property, when protecting perimeters, many often choose between two popular choices: barbed wire and concertina wire. When you look closely, you can spot concertina wire just about anywhere – even at the CHANNEL 5 NEWS station. The reason for the wire's name is because it easily expands as a concertina, that's like an accordion. It can also be layered to the height of an adult. It's vastly different from barbed wire.

"Climb over it, you can sometimes crawl under it if you're small enough. If it catches your clothes it can rip it open,” explains Commander Robert Caples, Starr County Special Crimes Unit.

Commander Caples, who served in the U.S. Marines, says those knots in barbed wire can poke and prod; concertina is designed to do more damage.

"What you're talking about is concertina wire also known as razor wire. And those would just look like this," he says.

Miles of concertina wire is ready along the southern border.

Over 150 miles could be used by the federal government trying to deter illegal immigration as the caravan in Mexico makes its way north.

About time! Concertina wire is no joke. I put it up and took it down in the army. It'll cut you up.

Add some tanglefoot and a few Claymores and you’re good to go.

Just heard Tom Brokaw on Meet the Depressed get his knickers in a twist about using concertina wire at the border. Brokaw whined that the UN and charities ought to be helping these people to settle in Mexico. Brokaw obviously has heard that the hoard refused to settle in Mexico and wants only to come to the US where they will get free stuff.

Used to be easy enough to cut, but now I believe it’s made from hardened steel.

Liberal Reporters (Washington Post and New York Times) wet dream:

Mini caravan (200 to 300 members) made up of young Caucasian looking Hispanic men, 3, 4 and 5 year old children, and wistful looking wives with thin bodies and large eyes...shows up at border Monday - in time for two news rotations....

On the other side - tall beefy soldiers, right wing crazies (whipped up by the Southern Poverty Law Center) and boat loads of Concertina wire.

Why this configuration?

Because it's a liberal lie from top to bottom... the real invaders are 70% men who have ZERO respect for our laws (they're bad people), the women drawn into this stunt are pawns, and the children are set up to be victims.

On our side soldiers are good citizens representing the rights of sovereign nations to protect their borders. They are attempting to do this with as little violence as possible. They're the good guys.

The ‘militia’ is made up of people who have been primed by liberal elites to think President Trump and the United States Military are too stupid to handle the situation. Liberal Elites organized and paid for Charlottesville and their hands are all over the ‘right wingers’ they want them to show up at the border to tip the vote to democrats.

Let's NOT fall for a George Soros funded set-up.... See tag...

Concertina is essentially worthless unless the obstacle is under observation and covered by fire. It doesn’t need to be lethal fire, non-lethal fire can keep the border crossers off the wire. Without some sort of fire, it will only take minutes to cut through it with a fence tool. The Border Patrol will need to use fire hoses, tasers, cattle prods, sound blasters, active defense systems, etc., etc. to prevent people from breaching the obstacles.

The horde has the potential to be a blessing in disguise. It gives Trump a totally credible justification to put up this temporary barrier and stop the daily invasion that is taking place.

YEA! If the UN is so concerned, they should send their Blue Hats to Mexico to help these poor people!

If California give them amnesty and starts putting them on buses and trains and shipping them all over the country, they ought to use that wire to isolate California.

Tough stuff to work with! They provided those reinforced gloves to handle it, but it still trashed boots and uniforms up. I didn’t care for it. Overhead camo nets were another pain. Spreader bars and the rest of it. I wouldn’t mind having a small set for camping, it looks pretty spiffy, but I’m sure it’s damnably expensive.

I’ll never forget I was walking to our field mess hall once, I think it was at Irwin, right at the time when a driver brought a 5 ton truck in to the field motor pool. A bunch of guys were under the truck marveling at something, so I went over to see what it was. Somebody had ran over a really long strand of that $hit, and the most incredibly large ball of concertina was wrapped around the rear axle. LOL.. the kid tasked to remove it by Sarge was not a happy camper, throwing wrenches around and swearing. Probably not that bad, just have to cut it with a torch.

We should deploy 4,000 miles of triple-strand concertina wire to the border - two separate barriers 200 yards apart, with a bulldozed road in between for patrolling - close the whole border except for authorized crossings. That can be deployed very quickly for an almost trivial cost. Then build the Wall in addition to that double barrier.

Wire obstacles are supposed to be backed with trip wires and Claymore mines and/or snipers. They can also be used to funnel attackers into what appears to be an easy approach ... that isn’t.
