"It first began festering when TV started making fathers out as dolts and simpletons and the butt of all jokes while strong women held the family together."
Coincidentally, just last night I played the first episode (on DVD) of a British police series named "Loch Ness." The young white male cop is a clueless doofus who needs to have everything spelled out for him by his female superior, and the older white cops are basically second-stringers who are taking it easy until retirement. The take-charge heroes are, of course, two female cops, one middle-aged, one younger.
The murder victim is a homosexual who was prominent in various charity causes and who taught piano to young children, and the prime suspect is - of course - a nasty, puritanical Christian.

I left out one thing about the “Loch Ness” show: the intellectual hero of the show is an internationally-renowned black (male) forensic psychologist.
