Migrants are the “lifeblood” of America, not Americans and their children, says former top Democrat Sen. Harry Reid. “Immigrants are the lifeblood of our nation,” Reid said, ignoring the 4 million Americans who turn 18 this year in a homeland with 260 million Americans, 34 million legal immigrants and at least 11 million illegal migrants.
Migrants, he said, “are our power and our strength.”
Reid made the claim as he tried to slam President Donald Trump’s call on Oct. for a reform of the birthright citizenship rules.
Reid led the Senate Democrats until 2016. His elevation of migrants above Americans came shortly after President Donald Trump declared himself to be a pro-American nationalist.
But Reid’s praise for migrants and contempt for Americans is echoed by many Democrats, by progressive columnists, some GOP-affiliated columnists, and by many immigrant political activists.

Last night one of the Fox hosts played a 1993 tape of Harry Reid vigorously denouncing illegal immigration. He might even have denounced excessive LEGAL immigration, but I’m not sure if I’m remembering it right.

Dirty Harry Reid...still the stupid, corrupt asshole he was in office.
Not all migrants passing through a country are equal, nor do they have the same aspirations or intentions while making that migration.
Nomads are eternal migrants, having absolutely no affection for one piece of ground in preference to all others, to which they may pledge allegiance. There are economic migrants, compelled to move for reasons of, in some instances, sheer hunger. There are other migrants, whether for ideological or religious reasons, who feel persecuted where they are, and their flight is much more existential, for their very lives, in the worst cases.
Then there are the truly idealistic migrants, those who WANT of move to and adopt the ways of the Promised Land, to embellish and emulate the ideals they so fervently believe in, and would fight to the death to defend.
This last category is the ones the nation of the United States should be encouraging, and subsequently rewarding, for their praiseworthy acceptance and embrace of those uniquely American ideals that make up the REAL spirit of America.
