Around 200 people joined together in Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon to demonstrate against President Trump's visit to Pittsburgh.
The protesters, organized by Jewish group IfNotNow, staged a gathering that was part-protest and part-shiva, a Jewish mourning ritual, Buzzfeed News reported.
The demonstration came as Trump landed in Pittsburgh to meet with the victims and families of those affected by the Saturday mass shooting in a well-known Squirrel Hill synagogue. The shooting, which left 11 dead and a few people injured, is reportedly the deadliest attack against Jewish people in the history of the U.S.
"Today, President Trump is in Pittsburgh," IfNotNow tweeted. "We do not need him. We stand with each other and mourn for our dead, and show up to protect each other."
Trump's Tuesday visit to Pittsburgh has been met with significant pushback, particularly from the city's authorities who said their main focus during the day was supposed to be the first funeral of a shooting victim.
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto (D) declined to appear with Trump during his visit, saying “all attention [Tuesday] should be on the victims.”
The protesters, donned in black clothes, marched as they held signs reading "anti-Semitism upholds white supremacy," "your words have consequences," and more. At one point, they paused to sing the Mourner's Kaddish, a Jewish prayer commemorating the dead.
More than 77,000 people as of Tuesday evening had signed an open letter from progressive Jewish leaders saying Trump is not welcome in Pittsburgh until he denounces white nationalism.

I sometimes attend a temple near my house they consider themselves a “Conservative” temple, but they are lefties, almost all of them..they hate Trump, hate the fact that the embassy was moved to Jerusalem, yet they stand there and pray for Israel when they want to give Palestinians our land..unfortunately their priority is abortion..that is what they care most about
