Maybe there is hope for these people:
STEP 1: They think SHTF is coming, so they tool up.
STEP 2: They start going to the range, improving their skills, and meet a bunch of reasonable people who are the Salt of the Earth.
STEP 3: They realize that they are responsible for, and capable of providing, their own safety and security, leading to a change in attitude toward government.
STEP 4: Demanding Mothers from Anytown come for their guns.
