Haha... Yes, there are no studies showing anything... If you believe that you are a beyond naive.
Why do you think BPA is now being avoided like the plague?? Simple its been proven to interact with hormonal receptors.. and its been replaced with a new molecule that doesn’t have any real reasearch on its safety as well.
If you believe no studies have shown plastics have negative impact on humans (and other animals) once ingested, you are beyond ignorant. Go get yourself updated on what the science actually has shown. Public was told for years Lead in everything was safe.. and that cigarette smoking was not addictive... Stop being a fool.
Plastics are in your food, and far more than you know, and the ways they interact with human systems is largely no understood. Just like industrial chemicals in the 50s and 60s and 70s... no one bothered to see what if any impact on humans and other animals might have, so they were released and manufactured wholesale, only to later discover the impacts of PCB’s, Phosphates, CFC, etc...
If you truly believe that all the man made plastics manufactured have been fully studied and their long term impact, particularly once in the food chain, are understood, you are just fooling yourself.
I am NOT anti plastic, plastics are wonderful materials, and they allow a lot of modern life to be possible, but this idea that they have no negative impacts, particularly once injested is just flat out WRONG, or that the full impact of these molecules have on living systems is fully understood is also WOEFULLY WRONG.
The true impact of them will come to light in the coming decades, and the idea that we are intentionally packaging our food in them will become as insane to future generations as having cocaine in soda pop is to folks today.
Plastics have been known to cause early puberty in girls. Was told that by an endocrinologist years ago. We listened and followed his advice along with hormone free foods. It worked. They thought my daughter would be 4 ft 10 with early puberty. She is 5 ft 6.
You said in post 5, “I have no doubt in my mind that the majority of endocrine disorders we are dealing with today are a direct result of plastics in the food chain.
I replied in post 23, “Since there is absolutely no corroborating evidence of that from any credible scientific studies, there is no doubt in my mind that you have an irrational fear of plastic products.”
I did not say that no plastics had been produced which were not toxic to people, plants and animals. Some plastics are produced or treated specifically to be harmful to certain organisms. But there is NO EVIDENCE scientific or otherwise that plastic products in the “food chain” are responsible for the “majority of endocrine disorders we are dealing with today”. That is clearly an irrational belief from a person who is clearly demonstrating only that he or she is an irrational person. All the name calling only adds further evidence to this assessment.
Plastic is a descriptive term to describe the properties of a vast variety of compounds many of which have no chemical relationship to one another. If you are going to make such a broad condemnation you had best be much more specific as to which plastic products that you are referring to.
Are you fearful of the plastic that is designed to be used as digestible capsules for delivering medicine. Are you fearful of plastic products designed to be nontoxic in microwave ovens? Are you fearful of the plastic that was used to make the keyboard you are typing nasty messages to me on. You do realize that a small amount of the plastic on your keyboard is rubbing off on your fingers and making its way into your digestive system don't you? And what about the plastic gloves that people use to keep themselves safe from cleaning products, grease and paint, etc... Are you afraid of them? Are you afraid of the powdered plastic products used to make those gloves easier to put on and take off?
I spent many years in charge of a large hazmat team and I spent many years giving reasoned and educated explanations to people who were fearful of basically everything. There is risk in everything, no substance, no product, no chemical, even drinking too much water under the right conditions can kill you. There is no room in a rational debate about the safety of specific plastics for people such as yourself who have absolutely no understanding of actual risk and how it relates to everyday substances in minute quantities. You and people like you are responsible for regulations that do nothing but shut down innovation. So excuse me for making this assessment of you... You are irrational and you do not know what you are talking about.
