We qualified on both the M-14 and the M-16 at Fort Knox in '69.I would have loved to qualify on a pistol of some sort but it's basically only officers who do so in the Army.I was more than a bit surprised to see those armed Coast Guardsmen on the Staten Island Ferry...particularly after what my late BIL told me.
As you can probably guess I don't know much about the Navy...or Coast Guard...whereas you,a Marine,would at least know the Navy.
