Let's start with the probability of mailing a dozen+ envelopes containing devices and not being questioned in any way, and them getting to their destinations "as we've been sold."

1. You mail them.

2. You don't take them to the counter, because if you did you'd be busted instantly. So you drop them in a box.

3. None have sufficient postage and it's grossly insufficient. This is ignored.

4. The stamps aren't canceled, despite being protocol to do so.

5. The packages do not have a barcode routing label added to them (which is also protocol for a stamped package) -- not one of them.

6. They then pass through multiple mail handling facilities and nobody flags them for any of the above, nor do any of the automated machines (including the postage insufficiency .vs. weight)

7. Finally, a courier is said to have delivered the one to CNN -- not the mailman. How'd he get it?

So you want to know what happened? Here's the most likely probability stack-up.

It also explains who nobody went bananas at CNN and instead took a picture of the damn thing. The courier knew it wasn't a bomb and so did all the LEOs involved. Since they knew it wasn't dangerous they were not in any way concerned about standing next to it taking pictures for the media. Nobody in their right effing mind stands next to what they believe is an active and armed explosive device.

Exactly...that is what people are suspicious about, that the devices, with their addressing, packaging, postage, were supposed to set off the alarms.

I have read considerable history. The Veritas videos show some fairly standard agent provocateur tactics. We have seen a lot of those used.

This sort of thing is quite different. To use someone as a patsy is far more complicated and dangerous. I have not seen actual historical examples.

Sure, lots of fictional accounts. But not historical examples.

I may be looking in the wrong places.

I was a Local Vice President of a Federal Employees Union for years. I wouldn’t say I was mis informed. I have been intimately involved in negotiating contracts, conditions of employment, grievances, even National Arbitration. My cousin (a big lib) was a Postal Employee Union member. He and all his buddies were big libs.

One set of comments the author repeats is that NONE of the packages had USPS stamps that were cancelled and NONE had any USPS bar code tracking on them.

Where is the earliest evidence of this, or is this something once said that others are repeating without checking it out?

My husband and I were mail carriers for 20 years and my co-workers were conservative and republicans and Christians....guess it just depends where you live. I just have a problem with the generalization. I’m sorry you did not have the same experience.

I was referring to the use of mentally ill people to accomplish their ends, not mentally ill people to serve as a patsy.

Obviously, for them it would be riskier to use a mentally ill person as a patsy, since that would be far more difficult to control unless it was done through a blind via a person who gained his trust and then disappeared.

My feeling is that if they use mentally ill people as tools in one case, it isn’t out of the question that they would use them in a different case.

Unless I missed something, and I'll be the first to admit at my age I do miss a thing or two now and then, I haven't heard anything from the intended ‘’targets’’.
