I listened to the presser yesterday from the Mayor, NYPD and the FBI. They are going after this hard with tons of manpower. Who ever did this will likely spend the rest of their lives in jail. The guys talking were not happy.
I’ve also read that the tape used is likely going to yield the best clues. It’s a CSI Techs dream. Picks up everything from a scene.
While no EOD expert, this isn’t rocket surgery... THIS WHOLE THING IS DESIGNED TO GET THE CARAVAN OFF THE FRONT PAGE. NOTHING MORE....
However...
The tape: either has a fingerprint on it or some other type of DNA evidence that can be compared to another sample. That is, if there’s a sample in a database or they get a suspect and compare to that person.
The explosive: if it’s something exotic, then you do a trace from where the stuff was distributed to who is was sold to. If it’s common gunpowder, good luck. If it’s homemade, in someone’s garage/basement, good luck, unless there’s some exotic ingredient.
Recipe for explosive: Lots and lots and lots of copies of the Anarchist’s Cookbook out there and obviously, the internet. But I guess the Dem’s can go to their buddies at Google, Bing, etc and have them search for anyone that has looked up the recipe for PETN or some other explosive that you can make in your kitchen.
The pipe: Can be purchased anywhere unless it has some distinguishable number or mark that can show where it was sold. Or it also has a fingerprint or some type of DNA.
Timer/Detonator: See above concerning an identifying number or mark that can be used to do a trace.
Now...after all of that, does anyone on Free Republic feel, in their bones, that a legitimate investigation can/will be done? Will they find another patsy to lock up like they did after Benghazi?

On a side note, why is the FBI involved in this? Or should I ask, why isn’t the lead agency the ATFE...Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and EXPLOSIVES!!!
If NYPD is mad, it’s because they’ve been given orders to dedicate any and every resource to finding the person(s) responsible, they know it’s a complete joke and they have better and more important things to do.
