TAPACHULA, Mexico – The migrant caravan headed here to the US is starting to weaken as some tired, hungry, and sick travelers are deciding to return home. But roughly 5,000 people are pressing on.
Some are asking questions about who is in the caravan, so CBN News asked our contributing correspondent Chuck Holton to check it out. He caught up with the caravan in the Mexican city of Tapachula.
"I want to try and clarify some of what you've been hearing in the news media about this caravan moving north into the United States. First of all, the people in this caravan are not being paid to join the caravan. Their payoff comes when they get to the US," Holton said.

"They are however being facilitated and enabled by groups like the UN, by groups like other NGOs and by church groups who are feeding them and providing them support on their journey north," he said.

The battle needs to start now. 24/7 propaganda needs to be given in air dropped leaflets, radio, loudspeakers encouraging the smart ones to turn around. Tell them in no uncertain terms they will not enter the United States. There are no jobs, no housing, no food, no welfare. The best they can hope for is to be deported back to their home country. Keep that up all day, every day so they turn back. Maybe we can provide comfortable air conditioned buses for the return trip today. Tomorrow, it’s a bunch of old school buses, the next day, it’s a new pair of sneakers and a water bottle.
