A poll which last month has Beto O'Rourke leading Ted Cruz in the hot race for the U.S. Senate now says the race his flipped, and the Ipsos Polling Company credits President Trump's highly charged rally for Cruz in Houston on Monday with part of that rebound, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Mallory Newell, the polling director for Ipsos, says last month it had O'Rourke up by two, but the latest on line poll, which was conducted following the Trump rally, says Cruz has more than made up that deficit.
"We are seeing a slight edge for Senator Cruz," she said. "He is up five points over Beto O'Rourke, 49 percent to 44 percent."
The poll also shows that voters think supporting a candidate which backs, and is backed by President Trump, is a plus.
This flies in the face of predictions that Trump's appearance in Texas would turn off some Republicans.
"We find that about 51% of Texas say they are motivated to vote for a candidate who will support President Trump," she said.
Another key poll recently had Cruz leading O'Rourke by nine points."
This poll is certainly in line with where the margins in other polls have been," she said.
Another key poll recently had Cruz leading O’Rourke by nine points”
lol. I “think” the general spread between a GOP statewide candidate and the d opponent generally runs around 54/46.
In other words, about eight points.
If Cruz leads beto by nine....then that means beto will run behind most d candidates statewide...lololololololol
I like how Austin is so close to Texas. Sorta like New Mexico.
not unlike George Washington as well.
