FOX Carolina)- The South Carolina Education Lottery website is reporting a winning MegaMillions ticket in the state.
According to their website, one MegaMillions jackpot-winning ticket was purchased in South Carolina for the drawing on Oct. 23.
The jackpot is up to an estimated $1.6 billion.
The winning numbers are: 05-28-62-65-70, Mega Ball: 5, Megaplier: 3.
We have reached out to SC Education Lottery officials for confirmation of the jackpot winner.
Mega Millions tickets are sold in 44 states across the U.S.

Earlier in the evening (at this time it would have been last night)my beloved was talking about the lottery. After I walked him through various steps of what was needed to be done after winning the lottery he started to add more steps. After a bit he looked at me and said, “You know, if I have to do all that just to enjoy the money, I don’t think the money’s worth it.”
And I smiled.
Mind you, I wouldn’t mind a few million here or there... there comes a point however where it can destroy much more than it can enhance.
Losing numbers.
This person is now condemned to hell on earth.
Extortion target.
Kidnapping target.
IRS target.
Lawsuit target.

I figure once you're Comfortably settled you can always make life better for others....Really you could make a difference for people that just need a hand up....or pay to build something worth investing in for others...there's so much you could do that would really make a difference. However I realize most people don't generally think that way. But it would be fun to find projects and purposes where good things are planned for but just lack the funding.....or health problems for those who don't have the ability to obtain things that would make life less burdensome for them. Heck it's just fun thinking about that! But then I already do this on a very small scale and enjoy doing so greatly!
I looked at some of the horror stories to make myself feel better! (Yes, there were kidnappings, murder, or dying alone on the sofa surrounded by cats.)
Then looked at some of the success stories. They all had one thing in common. Modest to no lifestyle changes, and giving away most of their money to charity. The stories were all from older couples too. Had lived long enough to know what is important in life.
Yeah, some (a lot of in fact) people have no idea how to handle that kind of money and lifestyle.

I actually have thought along those same lines as you have. It’s more about being able to keep oneself surrounding by prayer and sound folks while doing the contributions.
I already advised my beloved that if for any reason I were to come into funds tithing gets done first and then contributions will be made to Conservative causes. The Project Veritas folks would be 2nd on the list. Free Republic would be fully funded, as I really, really, like this site. The NRI would be next - believe in their cause and like seeing them tick off the liberals. The next one would be a bit harder... I would like to fund conservative lawyers to fund and I think there should be a way to fund conservative lawyers in training. There must be a way to find out which lawyer to be is really a Constitutionalist. And it would be nice to fund some court cases and the business or families being harmed by liberal lawsuits.
I’d also like to give monies to groups that support girls/women who carry their babies to term to give up for adoption. Not talking the ones that birth babies as an income...
There are so many ways to give monies away.... It’ll probably never happen. Still, I like to be mentally prepared.
After all the monies have been distributed I guess I would be able to live with a good mindset.
I sure a daylight will not give any monies to liberals or their foundations.

South Carolina is one of few states that allow so-called ‘anonymity’. That means the name won’t be made public by the lottery.
The winners are revealed to a number of people who have a financial interest in knowing, such as debt collectors and LE. And note that most states have open records laws that can present a problem for the anonymous.
The idea that someone could win this and not have it leaked by relatives, friends. or other insiders is laughable, but at least a name in the headlines is avoided.
The joy of doing such things would be such fun! Even doing this on a very small scale is wonderful. I never let the people helping know who it is....which is part of the fun.
The Lord has His way of moving cash out of your purse at specific times he lets you know the need. I’ve had some amazing experiences being at a place at just the right time.
The cash offered is always delivered through another individual.....a few times when I can see their utter surprise, and frankly tears. It’s wonderful to put your purse in His hands.

I know an individual who won a quarter of a million about 20 yrs ago. They took precautions to protect the ticket and then even had a trusted friend fly them to where they claimed the prize. None of which was actually revealed until after the fact to family members. Who were asked not to reveal and they didn’t.
A quarter mil is nothing in lottery land. Scratch-off games pay out that much. Why bother with anonymous?
As an aside, looks like 28 winners of a $1 million or more this time, along with 8 California winners of $500+k.
That was 20 yrs ago....nice chunk of change then. Also small town so worth being quiet about.

I think it was in New Hampshire...a few months ago...a woman who won millions was actually able to keep her name out of the public. Her lawyer presented the case as she’s already known for giving money in her local community and she really wanted to remain low on the national level because she wanted to be able to walk around in town without getting mobbed.
I memory serves me correct, the state complied with her request. It was nice to see she felt so strongly about her wanting to be able to continue given in quiet.
